Feline pawrents leave the vet with staggering $6000 bill after their black cat decided to take the "die" in "diet" too literally: 'And I don't regret a second of it!'

"Get a cat", they said. "They're a low-maintenance, cheap pet", they said.

Any sort of child, be they one with two legs or four, is a very expensive investment. For hooman kids, you have to pay for diapers, babysitters, school, and more meals than you ever imagined until they're at least 18-years-old. For a cat, you have to pay for bags of food, more litter than you ever imagined and those emergency vet visits you never planned for. And trust us, those vet bills are always much higher than you wish they would be.

Hopefully, they don't happen very often, but every pet pawrent has had to rush their pet to the emergency room because of something they did. Purrhaps they ate something they weren't supposed to, they stopped eating entirely, or something else that would send any of us into a feline frenzy while worrying about their health. If you're a first time pet pawrent, you're much more likely to rush to the vet if something is wrong, but don't take it too hard - it's natural! It's your first time caring for another living being, and you worry that every little thing might be the end of the world. The more pets you own, the more you understand what a real emergency is.

Whether or not it is a real emergency, you get charged life-saving fees regardless of if your cat needed its life saved. Sometimes, you pay thousands of dollars just to find out that your cat is mad that you left them alone for a few days, or in today's case, you learned that you need to child-proof your trash can to avoid your food-motivated black cat from rebelling against their diet.

Cats do have a tendency to be dramatic, so if there was any animal that would take the "die" in "diet" too literally, it would be cats. Well, they didn't succeed, but after a $6000 vet bill, this feline is alive and kicking. His pawrents' bank account, however, is not.
