65-year-old financial advisor tells young workers to buy a pressure washer, then learn coding: 'The most Boomer to ever Boomer'

• Then: please consider this advice with a straight face. Get ready to change your future overnight, everyone! 

  This 65-year-old rich fella knows exactly what we should all be doing in order to have more than $-40 in our bank accounts at any given time: pressure washing. 

  In this clip, Mr. Ramsey espouses his advice on what the kiddos can do to pull themselves up by their bootstraps:

  “It's amazing to me what people will pay you to do, if you're just willing to go do it. And you show up on time. And then I think the piece that goes with that is, ok, you don't wanna start pressuring washing and go, 'Hey I’m gonna be 63 years old and still be pressure washing.' That's not the plan. But to get you through this week? You can do a lot of pressure washing. Turn it into a car detail company and then turn it into something else and then sell that and do something else and... What I figured out was is these wealthy people, they don't think ‘Thank God it’s Friday, oh God it's Monday.' They're not living for the weekend. Every move they make is a step toward where I wanna be in 10 years. Who I want to become. And so ok,  I might be pressure washing so I can get the money to go to code school. Pay 10,000 bucks and go to code school. Then you can make $150 [thousand] a year." 

• Oh man, this is just so juicy, so full of funny little tidbits. 

  People couldn't help but giggle at the idea of going to a $10,000 per year “code school,” as if learning coding isn't already kind of outdated advice, as if college still costs $10k a year. If you're going to college for your “code school,” $10k might buy you some of your textbooks, but it wouldn't pay for housing, food, or your actual courses. 

  And a $150k salary is respectable, but that's just not what most people are making, especially in a time when companies are cutting jobs left and right, when continual layoffs are the new norm, and when expertise isn't valued anymore. What is valued by corporations is paying workers as little money as possible for as much as they can wring out of them. And trust, the workers of the world are feeling like wrung out sponges with nothing left to give. 

  A lot of people on X chimed in with outcries of how out of touch this guy is, just how useless this advice is. I don't think we need to feel bad about making fun of this guy, either. Clearly, he's doing just fine in life, and he did it all without picking up a power washer!

  Not that the baby boomers didn't have their own problems or whatever… but they're retired with cushy pension plans and 401ks. 

  Meanwhile, Zoomers all live with 4 roommates, or they live in their parents' basement. Where would they even get a $600 advance to buy a power washer, huh? What if they don't have a car, or a transportation method to cart around their pressure washer?

  It's true, I can't say most people need pressure washing in the same way they need their lawns mowed or their leaves raked. It's a nicety, a luxury, but I don't even think most people care that much how their driveway looks. You can probably rent a pressure washer on your own for less than it would cost to hire someone to do it. And a lot of us would enjoy playing with the pressure washer rather than having someone else do it! But perhaps that's just me!

  If you don't own your own property, ask your parents or grandparents about this. When was the last time they needed powerwashing, and how much did they pay for it? 

  There seemed to be some confusion about the $600 thing. I took that to mean that Ramsey was suggesting people pay $600 for a power washer itself. It seems like rates for powerwashing range from $150 to many hundreds per driveway, so perhaps the money is good. 

  But what Ramsey isn't considering here is that a lot of lawn care and window cleaning businesses already do this on the side. So. You're one person up against an entire industry.
