You thought it would take 20 minutes, and now you are emotionally attached to a pile of screws.

You opened the box with confidence. The instructions looked simple enough. A few panels, some screws, maybe a little hex key action. Fast forward an hour, and you are sitting on the floor surrounded by identical wooden pieces, questioning not just the furniture, but your entire ability to follow basic directions.

At some point, the instructions stop making sense. Suddenly, you are flipping the page back and forth like it is a mystery novel. Which side is up. Why are there extra holes? Why do you have three leftover screws already? None of it adds up, and yet somehow you keep going.

Then comes the moment where you realise something is deeply, fundamentally wrong. A panel is backwards, a shelf is upside down, or the whole structure leans as if it is going through something. Taking it apart feels impossible, so you just stare at it, hoping it will fix itself.

And let's not forget the tools. That tiny little Allen key that tests your patience with every turn. Your hands hurt, your back hurts, and somehow the screw still is not fully in. At this point, you would gladly trade your entire setup for a prebuilt piece and a nap.

But in the end, whether it stands proudly or looks slightly cursed, you built it. Kind of. It may wobble, it may have "character," but it exists. And honestly, surviving the process feels like more of an achievement than the furniture itself.
