The woman found him on the side of the road all alone while she was driving. She pulled over and he was immediately friendly. So, she brought him home, cleaned him up, fed him, and reported him just in case he had an owner looking for him. Her three little dachshunds were ecstatic about the new friend, and the four of them bonded instantly. And, it turns out, so did the woman and her husband.
The next day, his owner is found and shows up to pick him up. Now, Great Pyrenees dogs are usually working dogs, so this guy probably had him so he could guard his farm or something like that. Still a beloved life, but definitely not as easy since they'll have to be fighting coyotes and snakes.
The owner saw the woman in tears about saying goodbye to this big puppy and realized that their bond was too great. He couldn't separate them. So he told them that they could keep the dog! Now he's officially part of the family and living a completely spoiled and pawdorable life.

“Day 2 with the lost Great Pyrenees that I found yesterday along the side of the road. So we contacted animal control, and I posted about him in local Facebook groups. But in the meantime, we decided to give him a bath because his coat was in absolutely horrible, horrible shape. Just full of bugs and dirt and terrible matting. It still looks really bad, but at least we made some progress. [There were lots] of the matting we cut out, and two huge ticks.”

"We found out who the dog belonged to, and the guy said he was on his way to come pick him up. I didn't realize how attached to the dog I'd become. So the guy came to pick up his dog, and I was crying… So he changed his mind, and he's letting us keep him because he says he's gonna have a better life here, which he is, obviously.
Also, it's our 11-year wedding anniversary today. So happy anniversary to us! We got a new dog."

He may be the youngest out of the pack, but he's still the biggest and the one with protective instincts. So he is already making sure his family is safe from ominous sounds, smelly smells, and whatever else might get in the way! He's in love and so are they. We love a happy fur family!
