Self-described dog person shares the accidental adoptions of her four cats she never asked for, but became a purrfect part of her family: 'You ARE a cat person. The cats have decided.'

How does any person become a "Cat Person" to begin with?

There are many steps between "I hate cats" and "Crazy Cat Lady". It's a wide spectrum for people to fall on, and we're all there somewhere (we're definitely more in the Crazy Cat Lady side - full respect for the actual ones). But there are more than a few ways for a person to cross the threshold between the 50% to the 51% - where you can comfortably say you're a cat person. Not even a feline fanatic fan yet, just a person who prefers cats.

For some people, they'd have to just hear the soft, high-pitched meow of a kitten to be completely smitten and "covert". But others, so it seems, can adopt not one, not two, not even three, but four cats, and still struggle to call themselves a cat person. Like, we understand you have a dog - and he is, admittedly, super adorable - but how many cats need to fall into your hands until you realize what the world is trying to tell you for a long time now?

First of all, a kitten on the side of the road is a classic Cat Distribution System delivery situation. The kitten is in danger - and somehow, right on cue, the right person comes and swoops them out to safety, like a knight in shining armor, giving them a forever home. It really is a classic. And you see? This person stepped up right as she was supposed to - all directed by the might CDS.
Also, the immediate connection with a big floofy dog is the sweet icing on top of this adoption story. We love.

Losing friends like this is horrible. If it's any consolation, at least her cats can remind her of this friend every single day. It can never bring the friend back, but we're sure her memory is living strong with these couple of cuties. Such kindness should never be overlooked. We appreciate her taking in these cats.

Even though this one is not a classic Cat Distribution System story, it might still be. Not all of these adoptions happen overnight or by surprise. The CDS works in mysterious ways, and sometimes, the adoption process takes time. Sometimes it's because the human needs time to process, first feeding a stray outside, for example, until letting them fully integrate inside the house. But other times, it's the cat who needs more time - they might be shy, or need to resolve some health issues at the vet before joining the family. But when the match is made - this is definitely the great work of the CDS.
