  • Here's the original post, which they shared roughly 3 weeks before the start of the convention

Happy to announce I'll be helping admin challengers at @DreamHack ATL. I'll be in the pit all weekend GIF ALT joyreactor.com
  • And now the crushing update, complete with a screenshot of the ridiculous way this company spoke to them.

After being told I have a job, then driving from Carson City Nevada all the way to Atlanta Georgia I receive this message: Completely unacceptable from the hiring team for this event
  • So here we have it

Cheetowunga TPC 3:18 AM Just following up on this. Just got into Atlanta and I don't have any of the TiM emails, the I-9 stuff, or a call sheet for times Vex BLUE 8:15 AM Call sheets go out the night before your work day
  • Business man makes call from hotel patio, realizing he's lost the job.
  • And then... this

Vex OBLUE 12:48 PM Hey Lucas, due to an error in our staffing we filled the role we originally offered to you. We are very sorry for this inconvenience this is going to cause. We have a couple options here. First option, we reached out to dream hack and they said they have roles open, but it's 15/h if you are willing to work with them I will be MORE than happy to pass your contact to them asap!
  • Second option, we are looking into getting you a Dreamhack GA pass so you can enjoy the convention and not work over the weekend if you do not choose option one. Please let me know asap which option you'd like to go with, if any. Again I am truly sorry for this error and you will be the first on our list for getting work if we get a last second drop, if you do not choose the working directly with Dreamhack option
  • Atlanta Georgia skyline.
  • Well someone has to be held accountable for this!

BradyT... @Three... This is super f up and someone should be held accountable he spent his money on flights etc thinking he would make that money back by working this weekend and all yall offer is a maybe a spot open and a free weekend pass????
  • Danger Taco @TheDange... While that s S, fortunately as we all know a drive from Nevada to Atlanta is only around 35 minutes so not too much time lost Lucas @Cheetowu... This made me laugh thank you
  • It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Q @Qpann_ you wouldn't drive 18 hours to work for $15 an hour? I wonder why not Lucas @Cheetowu... Brother I got that email for $15/hr 4 days of work I was gonna make less than 1 1/2 days working for the pit
  • I would love the explanation for this

Cam @c7meron I mean you're discussing business over discord, what did you expect?
  • Excellent advice here!

pre-Co id Social Di... @jamesmbr... A company did that to me once. After I politely explained that I fully understood, "things happen", I promised no hard feelings, but that I WOULD see them in small claims court to recoup my losses, the job magically reappeared. Funny how that works.
  • Mojo Dojo Casa dig @dig6394 If you f up like this, you don't get to say "Sorry, we filled your role" you hire both people and take the L. If you accidentally hire two people to do a one- person job, you should be responsible, not make that the people you S over's problem
  • The options they provided are sooo silly

Sell the Bridge @Sell_the_B... Give them two options- they can provide the agreed upon wage and you'll head home or they'll provide the agreed upon wage and you'll work the agreed upon work.
  • Would a Discord chat offer hold up in court? I'd love to know!

stottpie @stottpie Send them an invoice and take them to small claims if they don't pay it
