What's especially amusing about this tale is that for all her talk of hard work (or lack thereof), the woman throwing the tantrum is probably not a good worker herself. A decent employee is often a good listener. That's not necessarily all it takes, but coasting off of assumptions about strangers is never a good way of moving through the world professionally and personally.
Even after the shopping attempted to explain that his outfit had nothing to do with his employment status at the store, the woman proved unable to listen. Instead, she just went off in a huff and spoke to an actual employee. You would think after her tirade and after the author's explanation, she would have moved on, but entitled folks like this can never be proven wrong.
When she spoke to the actual employee, he confirmed to her that the author was not employed there and yet still this woman wouldn't give up. It was as if she forgot what she was actually seeking assistance with and instead made it her mission to punish a total stranger for not working hard enough at a store where he wasn't employed in the first place!
