“Khloé Kardashian Says She Was 'Misadvised' About Getting Her Cats Declawed and Regrets Taking Away Their 'Protection Tools'” -Raven Brunner
-
"I was really misadvised about getting my cats declawed. I've never owned cats before. I didn't even know that was a thing. I feel really, really terrible that I did go in this direction," she said about declawing on her podcast, adding that it made her cats "miserable."
"My cats wear Air Tags, like they're not allowed to even go near a door. I'm so afraid if they get out, because they have no way to defend themselves. They've lost their protection tools, so it makes me sad," Kardashian continued.

Wow, she was misadvised? Poor her!
Newsflash: You can't be misadvised if you actually do your own research first. A simple Google search would have shown her what it actually does to cats, and how many places have outlawed it. It's not that hard, it would have taken her less than 10 seconds to understand that she shouldn't have done it. We're glad she apologized, but she should really be apologizing to her cats for making them undergo this irreversible procedure.

I’m glad she feels terrible but that’s seriously negligent. There’s no excuse on her part not to know.
I was going to make a joke about her getting advice from a psychic but then I read further in the article and she was indeed getting advice from a psychic. / Hefty_Divide9772
It's her job to be advised on these issues before making decisions. Being negligent or flippant with this vital health stuff is why you shouldn't have pets as props. / NeverBorn-NeverD*ad
It's illegal in the state of California you would need to very specifically look for a vet that is offering that kind of service she isn't misadvised it's pure PR now that it's come to light. / littlemoon-03

And, here's the real kicker: This advice she got? It was from a psychic.
A psychic.
Not a veterinarian, not a fellow cat owner, not even Google or ChatGPT. A psychic. It takes a lot to make us angry, but this is infuriating. It screams of privilege and not even having a basic understanding of how the real world works. To us, it's unacceptable. You can only give someone so much grace before you decide that their actions are no longer something you are willing to tolerate.

I’m very much against the grain here, but I’m glad she’s talking about this.
Should she have known better? Absolutely. But so many people still think declawing is okay. If her talking about this convinces one ignorant person not to declaw, I’m glad she’s saying something. **** her for what she did to her cats, but I hope her platform can do some good.
I adopted a shelter cat in 2007 who was declawed. It was standard practice at the shelter at the time (and my anti-declawing mom was so p**sed when she found out that she almost didn’t let me get the cat). I had my poor girl for ten years before she passed of stomach cancer, and she had litter box issues her whole life. So many declawed cats do, because digging in litter hurts after they lose the entire first joint of their paws. And it’s so incredibly frustrating that the people who chose to m**ilate their paws then often end up abandoning their cats for a problem they cause.
Ugh. Anyway. Don’t declaw. / fizzledarling

I'm glad she's talking about this. I agree that she should have known earlier, but for whatever reason, she didn't. But she's pretty famous so maybe someone else who also doesn't realize how bad declawing actually is might read this and decide against it. / a-clueless-squid
