Kitten rescuer saves trio of bonded babies after buying from kids who were selling them for $20 in 95 degree weather, rescuer says: 'I went from 2 to 5 [cats] overnight!'

Would you take in 3 baby kittens even if you didn't have any space left in your house?

Cat lovers are truly unique in that, even if they can't fit any more cats in their homes, they will never turn down a cat in need. Even after you've said "no more cats" a hundred times, you'll always find space for a few more. It's impawssible for us not to, because if we don't, who will?

Millions of kittens are born every year, and only a fraction of them get adopted and live in our homes. The rest, if they are lucky, become neighborhood strays that are cared for by several families. The rest become feral cats and continue to increase the cat population because, if you didn't know, cats can have around 3 - 5 litters of kittens per year. Assuming each litter is around three kittens (and that's being very conservative), that's a minimum of 9 extra cats every year for every unfixed stray mama cat out there. Do you see how this became such a big problem in such a short amount of time?

But thanks to the wholesome heroes like this kitten rescuer below, there are 3 less kittens out there in the wild right now, and even if they can't keep them furrever, they'll certainly stay off the streets as long as they have anything to say about it. After seeing some tiny things moving in a plastic crate in 95-degree heat in front of some local kids, they went over to investigate. The kids were selling the kittens for $20 each. We can only hope that their parents aren't using their cat's kittens as a side business for a little extra cash.

They bought all of the kittens for a whopping $31, and brought them to their cool, air-conditioned house where they were given water and wet food. Now that spring is here, kitten season is upon us, and shelters are expected to be pawsitively packed to the brim with fresh cats and kittens. They know they will probably end up having to foster them, which will prove challenging due to already having two 8-year-old cats. But with kittens so cute, how could they pawssibly say no?

    They were asking $20 each. We threw them $31 (all we had in the wallet) and got them into the car AC. We fed and watered them. They're in kitten jail (bathroom qrantine) for the night until we can take them to the shelter. We bought some wet kitten food from PetCo for the next 12 hours.

    We already have two eight year old boys (Otter and Platypus) and really can't take in more right now, but the CDS may have spoken. Also, if one is a girl, we can round out our troop and name her Beaver!

    TheSwearJarlsMy401k Oh that stripey baby looks pretty attached to their void sibling. If ya'll were in Florida I'd take them in a heart beat. I just lost my grey stripey boy and this little one is pulling my heart. If they are bonded I couldn't stand to separate them.

    bkuefner1973 Aww they are adorable.my hubby found a kitten last week in our back yard..they named him Baby Pepperoni. I assume we will add him to our happy herd. We have 4 now. He is very loving and everyone seems to love him. Off to the vet tommorrow to makes sure there's no micro chip and have him checked out

    Greenhouse Diva God when I was a kid (70s/80s) people selling/giving puppies and kittens in front of a grocery store was not all that rare. In fact, I got my kitty Spooky in front of Vons in the mid-90s. I'm so glad that getting critters spayed and neutered is so much more normalized!

    weirdodragoncat That's kinda how I got one of my since passed on kitties, Zolie. Someone was selling her as a kitten in front of the grocery store. She was tiny and they were trying to feed her human grade tuna. She was also covered in fleas. I called my husband immediately and told him I was buying a cat. She was a good baby

    CompetitiveCodo Rescues always tell you not to give them away for free. Good luck at the shelter tomorrow. Rescues and shelters around me are turning away kittens due to overcrowding/kitten season. It was on the news. They are asking for fosters. I wish I could do more

My big lovely Tuxie was rescued by a friend who got furious at a lady at a gas station trying to sell him before he should have been separated from his mother, my friend basically yanked the box away from the lady and gave her a pack of ciga ttes in exchange for what ended up being one of my best little buddies.
