Tiny kitten trapped under storm drain, woman hears yelps and firefighters come to the rescue: 'Can't wait to enjoy this handsome little guy for the rest of his life'

It's never a good time to be trapped under a storm drain…

This woman was on her way to work one morning when she reported in Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem about hearing tiny yelps coming from beneath a storm drain. She immediately called the non emergency number and police showed up. They couldn't help, so they called the fire department and lo and behold, the little guy was saved! It took them time because the drains are really heavy to lift. The little guy spent the rest of the day in Target with everyone until she got off. She even took his photo and put it on their "trainer" wall at work. She named him Bullseye, after the indelible icon from the store. They went to the vet together, and despite an eye infection he's completely healthy.

It just goes to show that if you hear something that doesn't sound right, to follow your instincts.

Firefighters really do more than just put out fires! There's a big difference between city firefighters, and wildland firefighters. When I was a student at university, I had tons of friends who were doing wildland firefighting, and boy is it stressful and difficult. Not only does it take immense strength, skill, and bravery, but it's dangerous for your health. I knew big guys who would train for a whole year just to apply. They were running up mountains with heavy backpacks on. There's so much pressure because everyone's life is on the line. If you're putting a fire out in the middle of a forest or mountain and someone passes out, you've got to be able to basically carry them back down the mountain. So as hard as it is, being a city firefighter is, well…a little less intense.

When you hear something off, such as tiny yelps coming from a storm drain, it's better to stop and check to see if someone or something needs help. It's a question to how this kitty got stuck there in the first place, but despite it being bizarre, it's amazing that this woman saved the kitten. Imagine if she hadn't. The kitten probably wouldn't have made it out.
