It is TikTok's world, and we're just living in it.

Social media has not been the same since everywhere became obsessed with short-form video, and that is all to do with the runaway popularity of a certain clock app. It isn't like we didn't love video content on the internet before, but TikTok has made it the front and center when it comes to the industry of being online.

While we may not have gotten so far that anybody and everybody is whipping out the front-facing camera to share their thoughts with the world, it certainly doesn't feel like it. It seems like there is nothing that people love more than playing at being an influencer via the medium of TikTok. Not even the controversies can hold back the sheer number of creators who keep us scrolling for hours on end with their inane antics. That kind of thing doesn't go away overnight.

Most of us with slightly shameful screen time are exposed to a high volume of content every day that has a flavor of the clock app. It is easy for most of it to all blend into one, but taking a more refined approach can make it more rewarding. Picking a semi-random curation of excerpts from the place is a nice way to dip a toe in and feel somewhat informed without having to scroll for hours on end. There is a lot of relatable and/or delightfully weird stuff to be found, and it is pretty convenient to consume in listicle form.
