Wandering cats can end up in some of the strangest of situations, much like the cat in this story that ended up 8km away from home in a field where he felt at home.

It is a strange one, we will cop to that. But it is a story from Reddit's r/cats subreddit with a lot of sense and sensitivity. For what we believe happened here (we will leave it up to you to decide for sure) is that a cat child decided to go for a longer than usual walk around its local area. In doing so it actually got a little lost, something which it likely planned on doing (after all, who does not enjoy the freedom of letting go of directions?). But when his internal GPS began to falter he panicked and lost his direction.

After hours or even days of trying to figure out which way was going to get him home he suddenly hears something familiar being shouted upon the flow of the wind, his name. A comforting sound for anyone to hear, let alone a scared and lost feline who just wanted to feel the comforts of home once more. And with nowhere better to be, this cat hung around this area where he could periodically hear his name being called out for years, until his rescuers finally found him.

Ok, hold up, wait a minute. What is this Disney-like fantasy feline family that takes daily walks together playing along the way? We have spent a lot of time around cat child stories but we cannot remember the last time we heard about something quite this wholesome. And then added on to that you have the sad little stray who was invited to play by the two purrfect cat children? It is a little overwhelming just to read about, we cannot imagine how heartwarming it must have been to see it play out. It is all that you can hope for as a pawrent that your cat child would be suitably socialized and friendly to other feline friends.

Well, you know what they say about cats being incredibly intuitive creatures. They know far more about what is going on in this world than we do and it would not be all too surprising if a cat felt comfort in their name being yelled quietly upon the wind. As though he is hearing his family calling him from far away. Heck, that even sounds like a really reasonable reason for this whole scenario to have happened. One day the cat goes for a long walk and loses its sense of direction. When he is about to give up he finally hears someone yelling out his name, off in the distance and so he hunkers down and waits for the person doing the name calling to find him. But it was never actually his name that was being called…
