Booksalot_0919 Lots of vets will do complimentary scans for chips. He looks a little young so maybe he hasn't been chipped (and some people never do chip their pets) but it's worth a shot!

Square_Top7308 He looks like he may be a Scottish Fold - he is adorable! I agree with getting him scanned for a chip and going from there. Good luck!

Gato1486 If you make posts on facebook and nextdoor etc, DO NOT INCLUDE PICTURES. A purebreed cat will bring out TONS of "owners." They will need to provide pictures to you as part of evidence of ownership.

Faisfancy Such a beautiful little one. I'm in the check for Chip camp. And definitely be careful with anyone trying to claim them. You could end up with a line around the block for that one!

deltadeltadawn If he's not chipped and the owner is not located, will you keep him? He's adorable. If he were mine, I'd be frantic trying to find that precious little floof!

Repulsive-Bee5885 My dog slipped out one day and was taken from our front yard while he was walking home (from a good- intentioned neighbor). I asked to reimburse her for the vet trip because they used his chip to contact us (as he had chewed through his collar the week before). She said they didn't charge to check.

emorrigan Definitely check for a chip- he looks like a Scottish Fold, and they're pricey little dudes. I really hope he was a door darter and not from a house where an irresponsible owner just let him go outside whenever.

Extreme_Blitz Thank you for rescuing this sweet baby, those worried little eyes show how much he needed someone like you today. Your best immediate steps are to take him to a local vet to scan for a microchip for free and post

his photo on the Nextdoor app or local Facebook groups. In the meantime, keep him safe, warm, and isolated from other pets until you find his owners or decide on a next step

DNorthman Erm, this kitty looks like a bear cub. Look at his baby murder mittens. He is a cute.

Alive_Rope_6969 He may have been dumped .. you just never know. Even chipped ones get dumped by the one in the couple or percent that hates cats .. although I think if you hate animals of any kind pretty much there's something seriously wrong with you

ChemicallyCorvid I got both mine from outside. First thing I did was check for a chip. After that I checked about every day my local shelter lost page, local Facebook groups and online lost pet finders

seeing if anyone was missing a kitty. I also drove around the neighborhood looking at any lost pet posters. I did that for about 2 weeks for each cat, and never found any matches.

I didnt want to post them up for the same reason of someone not being the owner getting them. Im glad I got them. Both unchipped and unfixed. Now living a happy life indoors.

she literally rushed to the clinic crying happy tears! she lives just two blocks away from us. turns out smokey got spooked by a neighbor's dog yesterday and bolted. they'd been looking for him for over 24 hours and were completely frantic. she was so incredibly grateful and didn't even know how to thank us for reacting so fast and keeping him safe.
