'This is a baby who wanted to make it': Orphaned newborn kitten found without his mother beats the odds and becomes a healthy, purring little fighter

At just a few ounces, Lucky was already showing the determination that would earn him his name.

Lucky's story is the kind that instantly grabs your heart. Posted in Reddit's r/kittens subreddit, this tiny kitten was discovered while his future family was picking up hay. He was found alone, squirming away from the rest of his littermates, with no mother cat in sight. Given how young and fragile he was, nobody expected him to survive the first night.

Two weeks later, Lucky is proving everybody wrong.

After being bottle-fed around the clock, the little fighter has grown to 11 ounces and developed quite the personality. He is eating well, growing steadily, learning to walk, and exploring the world through his newly opened eyes. According to his rescuer, he has already become the bossiest member of the household. He loves belly rubs, purrs the moment someone touches his sides, and grabs at fingers whenever he wants more attention.

What makes Lucky's story so special is how determined he seemed from the very beginning. Even when the odds were stacked against him, he kept fighting. The name Lucky feels fitting, but it is only part of the story. Luck may have brought him to the right people, but his own determination helped carry him through those difficult first days.

Looking at the photos, it's hard to believe this confident kitten is the same lil baby shown in the final image. From a fragile newborn struggling to survive to a thriving kitten discovering the world, Lucky's journey is a reminder that sometimes the smallest fighters have the biggest hearts.

There has to be a special version of the Cat Distribution System reserved for people willing to take on tiny babies that need extra help. The regular CDS sends you a cat. The advanced version sends you a newborn kitten that needs bottle feedings every few hours and somehow convinces you that sleep is optional. Lucky clearly ended up exactly where he was supposed to. Kittens this small need so much care, and it takes a special kind of person to step up and give them that chance.

Lucky is the purrfect name for this kitten. Looking at where he started and how far he has already come, it's hard to think of a more fitting name. He got lucky being found, but he also fought hard every step of the way. Tiny little guy was determined to stick around, and now he is thriving. Some names just fit right away, and Lucky is definitely one of them.

Lucky seems like the type of kitten who had no interest in giving up. From the start, he was doing everything he could to keep going, and now he is making up for lost time by demanding belly rubs, making biscuits, and becoming the bossiest little guy around. It is always amazing how quickly kittens can go from fragile little babies to tiny personalities with very strong opinions about how things should be done. Lucky clearly has plenty of those already.
