Friend gets charged $600 for a girl's trip while everyone else pays $350 because she has a "better job," she bails and leaves them with the bill: 'I was basically being used as an ATM'

Have you ever split finances on a girl's trip? 

If you have, you know it's always a bit of a mess at the end of a long weekend. With heads throbbing from a 2-day hangover and a pile of dirty clothes taunting you before the week begins, the aftermath of a girl's trip is made even worse by the looming split bill. For some, it's easiest just to split things evenly and call it a day. 

But this bill was not split evenly; this woman found out that she was paying the lion's share of the entire trip, and realized that her contributions more than doubled everyone else's. Why? Because she had a better job and could afford the extra expense. Luckily, she found this out by accident before the trip even began, so ragefully (and rightfully so), she bailed. As she pulled out of the trip, they scrambled to fill her spot, and she dashed online to Reddit, lamenting over the girl's trip that never would be on the subreddit r/AmIOverreacting to see if she was in the wrong.

  • If you're going to split the bill of a trip between friends, it better be split evenly. 

    In my opinion, this particular betrayal burns the bridge of trust between friends. Now, must this woman always check the receipts herself? Is she doomed to be punished financially as long as she has a "better job" than everyone else? Perhaps if she had been asked beforehand, she would have been more keen on covering some of the extras. But because they went behind her back and assumed she would pay more and not realize it, that therein lies the betrayal. 

    Rightfully so, she pulled her spot on the trip, leaving them to either split her inflated expenses amongst themselves or find some other chump to fill her spot. However, she refused to become the non-consensual ATM of the entire vacation. She'll be applying her $600 to some personal pampering of her own instead, watching her friends scramble to pick up the pieces of a potentially broken friendship. 

    Good luck trying to justify blatant theft!
