Trauma is nothing to mess with. We've all got some, it forms who we are as a person, but most of the time we wish we didn't have to endure all that hardship. But what if you could choose the trauma and use it to form a specific purpose? That is what this one dad did for his daughter in this TikTok now going viral

The video is from the daughter's point of view and she starts by asking, “do you have old school parents or Gen x parents?” She continues to say she had old school parents and learned things the hard way—like how she learned to drive flawlessly with tears in her eyes.

The idea of “strategic trauma" instantly became trending within the comments and most viewers didn't even realize that this is a skill that everyone should know how to do. The TikToker says she was 16 years old and had just gotten home and was feeling very emotional. Her father started pushing her to the edge until she was in tears. Then he said, “get in the car, we're driving!”—the confused teenager didn't want to, but obliged and that's when her father dropped some knowledge: “At some point in your life, you're going to sob on your way home from work or a boy's house or something and it's not going to be your first time. You are going to do it with me in the passenger seat and I am going to push you through and teach you how to drive while sobbing or crying.”

New skill unlocked! But at what cost…

Viewers are flooding the comment section with their views on this “strategic trauma" and whether that's a good parenting method or not. Some are even sharing their own stories of crying while driving, with many wishing they had learned this very lesson while they were young.

One commenter completely totaled her car while driving home after a heartbreak.

Seriously though, is this a good way to teach someone a useful life lesson or is this just abusive?

The TikTok creator actually posted an entire video commenting on some of the responses to the original video as well.

People we're either on the side of the dad or called it abuse…
