Shiba sees open door and runs away from home, 10 minutes later returns soaking wet from rain and wakes up his owner to tell him all the adorable adventures: 'I can't believe he came back!'

Have you ever had a dog run away?

Our dogs are everything to us. If something happens to them, it can hit us hard and have enormous affects on the quality of our lives. So When this Shiba ran away from home the owner had a little freak out. Some people came over and left the door open, by morning his Shiba had run away. The owner was actually asleep during all of this, and the dog barked at him to wake him up and led him out of the bedroom. Once he was out of the bedroom he realized then that the front door was open. He grabbed the Shiba so he wouldn't run away and realized he was wet. He saw that the Shiba was actually only outside for 10 minutes, and if it hadn't been raining then maybe he wouldn't have come back right away like that. 

Though his Shiba came back safe and sound, he still worries. There's a slew of intrusive thoughts running through his head about what could have happened to his pupper. At least now the lesson is learned, and he'll be more careful about the door. Read the full story below from Reddit's r/dogs.

  • Shiba Inu's are known to be very rumbunctious dogs. They are attentive, disciplined when they want to be, intelligent, and adaptive. They have an air of mischievousness about them that goes past their countenance. Though they look naughty, they actually do embody that kind of personality at times. If you've ever been around a shiba inu then you know how rebellious they can be. It seems they know exactly how to balance the line between being a playful and mischievous and being studious.

  • I would be so worried if my dog or cat escaped. I have a lot of fear about my cat going outside. Whenever someone comes over I always make sure to guard the door and not let him even close because I'm so afraid he'll dart out and I won't be able to find him. I live on the second floor of an apartment complex with a big window, so I'm also afraid he'll jump on the window ledge.
