Watch: Woman adopts senior cat that lived in the shelter for two years, has the most heartwarming response after finally coming home

Senior cats deserve a home, too.

We get it, everyone wants a kitten. They're tiny, they're floofy, they're playful, and purrfectly adorable. Kittens are great. But, they also make a mess of your house, keep you up all night for at least a few months, and can be a handful, to say the least. Not every home environment is suitable for kittens, also. Do you travel a lot? Work long hours? Like to make spontaneous plans? If so, then a kitten isn't for you. But what do you do if you still want a cute kitty to cuddle with?

There's one simple answer: adopt a senior cat. Senior cats can be alone for long periods of time, are often quite independent, but still love your companionship. Most of the time, they just want to eat in peace, sleep, and give you love. They are more grateful than kittens, who are still learning about the world and will never really understand the difference between the shelter and your home. Senior cats, however, will thank you every day for taking them out of the scary, crowded shelter, into your quiet and loving home. That's never more apparent than in @seniorcatmk's Instagram post.

She adopted a senior cat who had been living in the shelter for two years, struggling through every day, just hoping someone would see him and choose him. As soon as he gets into her home, he hugs her so tight and won't let go. He buries his face into her, just so thankful to be someone's favorite. It's enough to bring tears to your eyes, and warm up even the coldest hearts. If you're looking for something to make you cry happy tears, you've found it. Sorry, not sorry.

Listen, it's healthy to cry! Sometimes, you just need to cry a little bit to feel better, and if you're going to go down that rabbit hole, it might as well be from something outrageously cute and wholesome like this. Have you ever seen a cat display such gratitude before? It's prrrobably the cutest thing we've seen all week. Not only that, but it's also purrfectly inspiring! We have room for one more cat at home, maybe we'll go and adopt a senior feline of our own!
