There's nothing quite like being nose-to-nose with your cat. One minute they're across the room doing their own thing, and the next they're inches from your face, staring directly into your soul. It's a little awkward, a little invasive, and somehow incredibly adorable at the same time. Cat owners know that when a feline gets that close, you're not moving anytime soon. You just accept your fate and enjoy the rare privilege of seeing every whisker and tiny freckle up close.

Every cat pawrent is all too familiar with this angle. This cat is almost certainly sitting directly on their hooman's chest, making it slightly difficult to breathe and completely impossible to get up. But it's hard to complain when you're getting a front-row view of that little face. A little chest compression is a small price to pay.

That face is saying, "Where is my kibble, human?" and it's not asking politely. The bowl could be half full, three-quarters full, or freshly filled five minutes ago. None of that matters. As far as this cat is concerned, a grave injustice has occurred and it needs to be corrected immediately. The intense stare, the slightly offended expression, and the unwavering eye contact are all part of the negotiation strategy. The message is clear: less talking, more kibble.
