'I wish I had a kitten for years, so the CDS gave me two': A rescue mission for two abandoned kittens becomes a dream come true for cat lover

One unexpected phone call was all it took to change the course of the day and two tiny lives.

Finding two week-old kittens in a pile of trash wasn't part of anyone's plans that day, but Meep and Moop clearly had other ideas. After a construction worker found the siblings inside an office, a rescue effort quickly sprang into action. Followers of Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem subreddit often joke that the CDS has a plan for every cat, and these two little kittens certainly seem to support that theory.

The call came just before a therapy appointment, leaving little time to prepare. A quick stop for kitten formula was added to the morning agenda, and the session unexpectedly turned into a crash course in bottle-feeding. At only a week and a half old, Meep and Moop needed constant care, plenty of patience, and more than a few sleepless nights.

A few weeks later, the transformation is remarkable. The fragile kittens have grown into healthy, playful eight-week-olds with very different personalities. Meep, the gray boy, is big, loud, and impossible to ignore, while Moop is quieter, sneakier, and always keeping everyone on their toes.

The original plan was to foster the pair until they were ready for adoption, but bottle babies have a way of working their way into people's hearts. Between the feedings, cuddles, and watching them hit new milestones every day, it's easy to understand why the idea of saying goodbye feels a little harder with each passing week. Whether they find forever homes elsewhere or stay exactly where they are, Meep and Moop have already turned an unexpected rescue into something unforgettable.

A construction worker found these guys in a pile of trash in the boarded-up office next to my Mom's. It wasn't safe for them to be in there anymore and they weren't sure if mama would be able to get back in or how to reunite them, so my mom called me. That was 10:15 and I had a therapy session at 11, but I grabbed KMR on the way to her office and made it back just in time—and then my therapist and I spent that whole session learning how to bottle feed together. They were about a week and a half old then, and now they're eight weeks old! I can't believe how much they've grown. It's been exhausting but also so rewarding. I love these little pumpkins even though they can both be brats. 😂

We have an HOA that limits the number of pets we can have, so the plan has always been to just foster them until they're old enough for adoption. So far no one in our networks has been interested in adopting them and I'm trying not to feel hopeful that we might end up just keeping them. We live in a small condo and already have two dogs (who both love the kittens—our ACD cries when they do). My husband and I talked about it and agreed that it would be hard on us financially to add two more pets, but if no one claims them, what else can we do? We shall see. Either way, I'm grateful for all the snuggles. 💖
Edit because I forgot their names! They are Meep and Moop! Meep is the gray boy (big and loud!), and Moop is the little girl (quiet and sneaky).

Dang the cds must have been Iike: "Sorry for the delay we were backed up with cat requests, as an apology, here's another kitten for your wait."
The CDS must have looked at the situation and decided one kitten simply was not enough. After all that waiting, it delivered a matching set of tiny troublemakers instead. Meep and Moop may have arrived under less-than-ideal circumstances, but they clearly landed exactly where they needed to be. Sometimes the CDS likes to make an entrance, and bringing two adorable kittens at once is certainly one way to do it.

So sweet. You're really smart to get 2. They keep each other company when you're gone.They play together , they're very entertaining and two is always better than one.
There's definitely some truth to the idea that the more cats, the merrier. Cats may pretend they are fiercely independent, but many of them love having a feline companion to wrestle with, nap beside, and cause trouble alongside. Watching two kittens grow up together is especially fun because they always have a built-in best friend.

But every experienced cat owner knows that a kitten belly can be deceptive. One day it's soft, welcoming, and full of purrs. A few months later it has transformed into an expertly designed trap complete with surprise bunny kicks and lightning-fast paws. Best to take advantage of the safe belly access while it is still available.
