We're not saying Darkness pulled a few strings from beyond the Rainbow Bridge, but the timing is certainly making a strong case for it. His humans were still grieving, still figuring out what life looked like without him, and then Dolly appeared almost immediately afterward. No cat could ever replace Darkness, but it feels like he may have had a paw in making sure his favorite people weren't left without feline company for too long.

The Cat Distribution System has never been known for respecting boundaries. These humans sat down, had a serious conversation, and agreed they were taking a break from cats. The CDS reviewed their request, stamped it "denied," and delivered a kitten 72 hours later. When the system decides it's time for another cat, your opinion is mostly a formality.

Anyone who has loved and lost a cat knows that they never really leave us completely. The routines change, the house feels different, but the love stays behind. Moments like Dolly's arrival are enough to make you wonder if our cats are still keeping an eye on us from somewhere, quietly making sure we're going to be okay even after they're gone.
