‘Hold your horses’: 21 Hilarious Animal Memes Racing Toward a Much-Needed Laugh

Some animals run, others nap, and some horses seem determined to make absolute fools of themselves…

The other day my aunt said to me, "Hold your horses"… and I found that to be hilarious. Of course it was not the first time that I've heard that saying, but in that moment I burst out laughing because of how funny it is. I could even imagine myself riding a horse and literally holding them back before, I don't know, crashing into a wall? Okay, I know now it's not as funny, but in the moment I loved it, and now I can't stop saying it. 

I grew up in the city and never had that much contact with horses or any type of animals besides pets, but I had friends who were lucky enough to have a house in the countryside, and we used to go pretty often to visit and relax in nature. One particular friend of mine offered horse riding lessons and horseback rides for tourists. When her birthday came around, she always invited us to go horse riding with her and her father, and I loved it. When I was younger, I used to enjoy it more than as an adult… I felt literally like Hannah Montana.

Unfortunately, I moved and never saw that friend again. But I still remember and cherish those moments. I never had any other contact with horses ever again, and not even think about them until recently, when my aunt said that to me. Besides laughing a lot, I remember those riding lessons and how, at first, I would be scared of the horse, and the animal of me, because we didn't know each other, and I'm sure it could smell my lack of confidence… but with patience we both managed to understand each other, and in the end, the lesson always went fine and smoothly.

Now that I'm thinking about it, that could be applied as a life lesson. When you start something new and do it for the first time, you're scared and nervous. Maybe there're skilled people next to you who are watching, and you feel anxious. But with time, and with a patient horse by your side, everything goes well, and in the end, there is nothing to be scared of.
