Parents take son to pet store for surprise birthday "tadpole," he chooses a kitten and they miraculously say yes

It really is the best birthday surprise when your "tadpole" becomes a kitten.

In Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem, a couple go to the pet store to take their son to get a birthday gift. They had the intention of getting him a tadpole or fish, something low maintenance that they don't have to care for too much. They already have two elderly dogs at home, and don't want too much hassle. Upon getting there, they see that there's a couple foster cats in the store that their son was gazing at. He wanted a cat instead, and to the couple's surprise, they didn't say no. They almost lost their cocker spaniel, so they were thinking it could be a healing addition to the family. The foster cats were adult females but they needed to go through a process to match, so they didn't want to wait. They went by the animal shelter to see if there were adult female cats there, but instead they fell in love with a little tuxedo kitten. He immediately climbed into their arms with sweet purrs.
