Waking up to a "you'll be mad but" text is the kind of relationship event no one wants to attend. That prefix is doing a lot of work. It means the person already knew, decided anyway, and is now managing your reaction rather than asking for your input.

It's the kind of text that would make the liquid metal in my internal thermometer blow through the top and blast a hole in the ceiling, cartoon style.
