'I am so, so proud of him': Starving black kitten courageously approaches Fourth of July party, almost gets chased off by guests, until one cat lover turns his desperate plea into a furrever home

While everyone was out celebrating America's independence, one cat lover spent her night bathing a thirsty, bug-covered baby void cat. Now, they have two things to celebrate every year on July 4th: America's "birthday" and her kitten's adoption day!

Black cats are still the least adopted cats. Some people still hold on to the superstition that they're bad luck, or a bad omen, and therefore, they receive the least amount of compassion when found in the wild. None of the superstitions are true, of course, but that doesn't stop people from consistently picking other cats over black cats. This was about to be the story of yet another black kitten, from Reddit's r/AVoid5 community, until the kitten and her soon-to-be purrson found each other.

Amidst the ruckus and fireworks happening at a Fourth of July party, one starving, flea-covered kitten courageously approached the party. He cried for help, for even some water to drink. Many of the guests tried to chase him off, but one cat lover took pity on him and picked him up. No one claimed him, so she took him home. 

She bathed him, fed him, and took him to the vet. Her original plan was to give him up for adoption, but as most black cats do, he crawled his way into her heart before she could even realize it. She bonded with the baby and decided to keep him as her own cat kid. Now, they play, cuddle, and snuggle as often as pawssible. 

July 4th is usually a hard time for pets, but for this pair, it brings special memories. The day that they were brought together and both of their lives changed furrever.
