While most parents will never admit they have a favorite child (even though they clearly do), grandparents are generally less strict about the 'no favoritism' rule. They have no problem showing extra affection to a certain grandchild, and will go as far as ranking the favorite higher in the will and rewarding them for being the most beloved. Usually, though, that special bond between a grandparent and grandchild doesn't come out of nowhere. Grandparents tend to favor those who show them the most love and appreciation, those who stick around even when it's not easy or convenient. Those who go the extra mile.
Each family, for example, has one grandchild who lives close to their grandparents and visits more than anyone else. They ensure they always have time to see their family and are there even towards the end.
Can anyone blame the grandparents for favoring the one who takes the most care of them?
The granddaughter below definitely earned the favorite grandchild award, and she deserved it. She worked hard to take care of her grandmother in her final days and was "rewarded" when her grandmother passed and left her the house. This granddaughter was clearly the favorite, and her grandmother made sure she knew it. However, the other granddaughter, her sister, was not happy about this arrangement. She claimed that her sister took advantage of their old grandma and did not deserve to get this house all to herself. She got other members of the family to back her up, and then started making demands that her kindhearted sister is having a hard time refusing.
Should the other granddaughter get a share of the inheritance, or should the grandmother's wishes be honored exactly as she left them?
