  • meetings with outsiders, and most days I just stare at spreadsheets for eight hours straight. Since it gets super hot during summer I always
  • wear what I find comfortable which is usually sports shorts, a tank top, and my favorite running sneakers. I always make sure everything is
  • clean and doesnt have any offensive logos or anything like that. My productivity has been great and during my last review my boss actually praised me for doing such a good job.
  • But yesterday my manager called me into his private office and looked at me like I just walked in wearing a swimsuit.
  • He started lecturing me about professionalism and said that my outfit choice is totally unacceptable for an office environment.
  • He told me that even if clients arent here we still need to maintain a certain standard and that wearing gym clothes makes it look like I dont take my career seriously.
  • I was honestly so annoyed because I do a lot of overtime and always deliver my projects on time.

  • I told him that my clothes dont affect my brain and asked him why it even matters what I wear if the actual work is getting done perfectly.
  • He got really offended by my tone and said I was being disrespectful and combative. Now he wants me to sign a formal warning about dress code policies even though our employee handbook just says dress appropriately without any strict rules against shorts.
  • My coworkers say I am right about the logic but that I am aj for arguing with him instead of just putting on a boring polo shirt to keep the peace.
  • AITJ here?
