When I was your age, I literally wasn't allowed to breathe. So think about that next time you complain about anything, ever! We get it, things sucked when you were younger. But guess what? Everything is relative. Which means your specific flavor of generational suffering doesn't make your kid's suffering any easier to deal with.

Twitter user @ElyKreimendahl recently tweeted a simple complaint about her mom, which resonated with thousands of people who chimed in with their own thoughts on intergenerational trauma and the nuances of parenting.

Parents say, “I never complained!” Their kids are saying, “maybe you should have.”
