Abandoned dog dad brings puppy to California neighborhood to be rescued by dog loving resident who healed and helped the young dog find a furever home, rescuer says: ‘I can’t imagine abandoning such an adorable lil puppy!’

It is not all too often that dog dad will bring his puppy to a hooman to have them care for the dog in his place, but when things get bad, they have little other option. Thankfully the pupper pawrent in this story was not too proud to pass on his pup and wanted only the best for his canine son.

Reddit's r/DOG subreddit is not specifically a place for pupper rescue stories, but it is a place to talk about all things doggo. Which is interesting as this rescue story we found there is also more than just a rescue story. To begin with it tells the tale of a dog father who had to come to terms with the fact that he could not properly care for his offspring. A deeply difficult decision to make and one that we are sure hurt him deeply. But much like in the jungle book, this pawrent knew that his puppy would be better off amongst the hoomans and so he brought the puppy to them and made his escape the moment he could.

Now, our rescuer was lucky in all of this, for she already had a whole heap of doggos of her own at home and the shelter she turned to for help was actually ready and able to provide her with the resources and support that she so desperately needed. Giving this story a sweet and secure ending in the knowledge that this sweet dog will be cared for exactly as it deserves to be and that the system in place to protect puppers is alive and well.

Honestly, life can be so tough sometimes, the good often get left behind and those who are worthy of help hardly ever get it. And what this pupper’s pawrent did for him is a pawfect example of that. Who knows where these doggos came from, what had happened to them and how they knew to come to a hooman neighborhood for help. But one way or another that is what happened and this dog dad knew he could no longer properly help his son through life. A heartbreaking realization and one that only a pawrent who deeply loves their canine kids could do.

Honestly, it is rather heartwarming to see the shelter system actually working for a chance. Most of our stories get to this stage in their lore and we are met with a roadblock, an unmovable object that usually causes the rescuer to home the pup themselves or find a suitable home on their own. But by the grace of goodness this shelter was able to actually help in the way they were intended to. Consider this moment as being the moment our faith was restored in the shelter system.
