After months of visiting the same house, this stray kitten finally convinced one family to take him home

He spent months convincing me to adopt him, and I'd say it worked.

Some cats show up once and disappear. Mr. T had a different plan. If Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem subreddit has taught me anything, it's that the cats who keep coming back usually have something in mind. For the last four or five months, he'd wander over to my house, say hello, then head off again. He started out as this tiny little kitten, and before I knew it, seeing him had become part of my routine.

The whole time, I kept wondering if he belonged to someone. I asked everyone at the nearby apartment complex, knocked on doors around my block and the neighboring streets, and even posted on Nextdoor. The only lead came from someone who thought a family might have moved away and left him behind. Nobody else recognized him, and no one came forward looking for him.

I finally took him to the vet to see if he had a microchip. Nothing. They estimated he's around six months old, and he isn't neutered yet. I also had him tested for FIV, FeLV, and heartworm, and thankfully everything came back negative. He got his first round of vaccines, and he's already booked to get neutered and microchipped later this week.

After months of showing up at my door, I guess Mr. T got tired of waiting for me to figure it out. He's home now.

I'd like to think he knew exactly what he was doing the whole time. One visit turned into another, then another, until he stopped being the cat that came around and became my cat. Sometimes the Cat Distribution System doesn't rush things. It just keeps knocking until someone finally answers.

Looks like you two have more in common than just becoming roommates. Between the bushy beard and all that fluffy fur, it's safe to say you're starting to match. After spending months outside, Mr. T is probably wondering why he waited so long to move in. A warm bed, regular meals, plenty of attention, and never having to worry about where the next meal is coming from sounds like a pretty good deal. He can finally relax, stretch out, and enjoy being a house cat. Judging by that happy face, it doesn't look like he's missing the outdoor life one bit.

Cats have a pretty amazing way of finding the people they're meant to be with. Mr. T kept coming back for a reason, and it feels like he knew he had found someone who would look out for him. Whether it was the extra food, the kind words, or simply a feeling that he was safe, he made his choice and stuck with it. Safe to say his instincts were right, and now he has the forever home he was searching for.
