An employee in a suit puts his head in his hands at work

Made a blunder at work and the behavior or my teammates shocked me.

I made a huge blunder on an excel file. In my defense it was a new process. When one of the coworkers spotted it, the three of us had no idea who did that and even I didn't know. Eventually they found out via file history. I apologized and corrected everything and sent the updated file. I am already very
embarrassed and on top of the coworkers with whom I had good relationship suddenly stopped talking to me and their tone became very professional. I admitted my mistake multiple times and even told them that I will tell the boss that I made the mistake even though no damage was done but I will admit it and confess about the inconvenience it has caused the next coworker working on the file.
Still their tone is very curt and maybe I'm too embarrassed. I noticed that the other 2 coworkers were yapping about it in separate chat. I felt hurt because if they had joked about it or roasted me upfront I would been okay, I thought we had that relationship because they usually share a lot of personal problems with me. It was sad to see that
even people who appear so close to you have no forgiveness and when I said I will tell manager the blunder myself nobody said that it's okay because I corrected the file anyways and no damage happened.
I was gonna tell my manager anyways because I didn't want any more favors from them but idk why I expected this commaradship from them. I felt hurt by the coworkers' gossiping about me and lack of forgiveness, especially since they always said that we had a close relationship we are like friends and we are lucky to have each other.
I already feel bad and idk why I didn't pay attention but I didn't do it on purpose. I hate corporate culture, it's full of vultures.
TLDR; I made a mistake at work, I apologised multiple times and fixed it and I will come clean about it with my manager even though no damage was done. However, my friendly and cordial coworkers have gone quiet and I feel judged and hurt because expected support.

DasBoots I feel like the blunder couldn't have been that huge if it was fixable without any fallout. Mention it to your boss, but don't make a big deal about it. You can't control how your coworkers act, but you can give them the same energy going forward now. Also, tell your boss sooner than later because I bet one of your coworkers already mentioned it to them.
maydayvoter11 the more you keep apologizing, the more you blow the mistake out of proportion and the more they gossip about what a screw-up you are.
Spirited_Childhood34 It's dog eat dog out there, unfortunately.
qiterite When you didn't recognize your mistake right away your co-workers might feel like you're not being forthcoming. Nothing is worse than working with someone ready to throw you under the bus for their mistake. It's not that you didn't apologize, it's that they had to investigate to find out you made the mistake while you stayed silent.
Mistakes happen, it's not really a big deal unless the same mistakes keep recurring. If you haven't explained to your boss about your mess up yet, you should make it top priority. Your mess affects your boss too. But these things happen and the only way not to make a mistake is to
never do anything. So chin up and let your boss know you made a mistake (which will also rebuild trust with your co-workers) and now you're going to be working smarter.
Flikqzzz You will be fine this cant be a blunder if you could fix it and your boss didnt say anything. Your co-workers should always be your co- workers, no one is your friend and im sorry but its the reality of everyone
climbing on top of eachother to reach the top. Just be professional and dont feel hurt because people are ah les. Be happy you learned this because these people will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat.
Adventurous_Sky_8868 Your colleagues are never your friends, always remember that and keep them at an arms length
Donutdude727 I mean, did the mistake costs millions to correct? Did someone get hurt or di ? I think some perspective might help. And I'm not saying that to diminish your feelings in any way. I mean that if the mistake didn't cause
cataclysmic damage and it's enough for these people to essentially ghost you, then they're not worth having as friends to begin with. I'm sorry. It s ks. Having gone through it myself, I can recognize how difficult it is
to see the people you thought were friends just drop you. But you're better off without them. They might not even be terrible people, they're just regular ol' people that feel better about themselves by putting others down. We all do things to get through the day. Some of us just don't feel the need for external validation to make ourselves seem better than others.
Conundrum Machine Comradeship at work in this society is mostly an illusion. Precarity in action.
LyqwidBred Human error just happens. If something is truly critical then there needs to be some process to protect against that. Shared spreadsheets are not a great process, it's common for there to be problems like this.
