There wasnt a flair that was appropriate. This is more of a vent than anything else. But this morning my Mal was losing it whining at the front door. She's normally pretty excited to get our morning work going. But this was a bit different.

Imagine my surprise when I found two pups, who have to be littermates sitting in the dirt near my stoop like they own the place. Both male. Both co ky and confident. But the one facing off camera didnt seem to be doing too good.

Obviously they were dumped. I live way out in the sticks in north central Texas. Id really like to get my hands on the sorts of people who do this cr p.

So now we are at the vet. Not sure on the breed. But they seem to be 8 to 10 weeks old and judging from everything else, will be huge.

Edit: They're healthy ish. The single sock pup tested positive for Lyme diesease. I have a neighbor lady up the road. who says she will take him. She will be coming by tomorrow to see him and decide for sure.

Getting another dog wasnt on my bingo card this year. But Im gonna keep him. Im a mid 50s retired guy so I definitly have time for him. But with the volunteer work my Mal and I do for a local SAR organization I'm

not exactly sure where this guy fits into things. The vet says they look to be a Pyr mix. Probably with a lab.

I got a couple DMs from folks who were interested in seeing how things progress. So here it is.

The lady from up the road ended up taking the single sock pup. I agreed to cover his vet expenses until he is healthy then its all on her. She is a good

gal and Im retired oilfield trash. So I have some money to burn. Double socks is staying with me. My youngest granddaughter named him Kody. When asked

why that name she simply responded "because I said so" then went back to playing with him. So Kody it is. I was apparently wrong about his age. In my other

OP I figured him to ve 8 to 10 weeks old based on his size and attitude. They were younger than that. The vet said they were closer to 6 weeks. But he is a healthy 20 pounds and is progressing nicely.

As is his brother who had a rougher start to things. I unfortunatley did find a pup with the same coloring and size in my woods who didn't make it. A female. But I have a

Anyway. Doing the puppy tests. This little guy isnt the most biddable. You have to convince him that what you want him to do is the right thing to do. But he loves praise and is

very calm under stress. The startle recovery test barely fazed him so I resorted to snap caps instead of steel bowls. Still barely a reaction. Yes he can hear just fine. He has almost no prey drive

and is aloof with almost everyone who he doesnt think needs protecting. Except for me, my grandkids and my girlfriend.

But he was seriously not happy with the yotes howling in the distance while we were having a fire tonight. Not scared, not anxious. More like a big D just walked into the locker room. He has a big personality.
