Parents force 21-year-old to send texts 2x per day saying 'good morning' and 'goodnight'— 21-year-old protests

Am I in the wrong for protesting my parents' request for twice daily check in texts?

I (21 F) moved out of my parents' house at 18 years old to attend a college that is 200 miles (roughly a 4 hour drive) away from them. My parents (62 F and 70 M) only request from me and my sister (26 F, living 3 hours away from our parents) was a "good morning" and "good night" text message to our family group chat. (I will specify that neither of our parents have either of our locations)
For the first couple of years, I had very little issue with this, but it was a slight annoyance, seeing as how I left home with the intent of escaping my narcissistic mother. In the past year, I have started to despise this request, as I am a full time student, work full time at a grocery store, which is 32-40 hours a week and often requires me to be awake by 5 am, and have been building a life with
my boyfriend of one year. Between all of this, I tend to forget to send a text to our family group chat. And when I forget to send a "good morning" text, my parents will text and call me asking if I'm okay. For example: There was even one morning they called at 7 am on my off day because I was so exhausted from
work the previous night that I did not send a "good night" text. In addition, I forgot to send a "good morning" text today because I was running errands, and my parents texted me once, called me twice a few hours apart and left a voicemail the second time.
I have consistently explained that I am constantly busy, and when I am not, I am trying to relax from a long day, so it slips my mind. I have repeatedly requested to be left alone even if I forget 1 of the 2 texts, but they refuse to listen purely because "you'll always be our baby and we'll always worry" and "you'll understand when you have kids" (despite my constant
mention that I will NOT be having children). Every time they do this, I tell them off, typically with quite a few profanities because I am exhausted by my simple request being completely ignored.
So, am I the a hle for wanting to completely disregard my parents' outrageous request for twice daily check-in texts?

CowichanCow Automate it. Set scheduled texts to go every morning and evening.
Particular-Fly822 You're a full adult, you don't have to text them at all if you don't want to. At least they care though I guess.
CatsMom4Ever If you're reliant on them on any way, schedule the texts to be sent at the same time every day.
Glass-Reaction-892 State the boundry again and if they don't respect it block them. That's the only way to get through to a narcissist. My mom's the same way, I've heard the same exact excuses. She once called my leasing office of my
apartment to check on me because I didn't text her for 2 days. My sisters were texting me, telling me to call her. So I called her a blew up then I was the problem. Setting an auto text only enables their controlling behavior. And enables their anxiety, that they need to learn to manage on their own :)
Perfect_Walk529 Put your foot down, cut the cord. Say "no thank you, I'm not a baby and we won't be doing this any longer, please accept this"
1TiredPrsn You have suggestions to automate the texts but this won't get to the root of the issue which is for your parents to need this sort of control over an adult. Don't text until you want to. Deal with the repercussions. If they call the cops, explain the situation to the cops. Rinse and repeat until they realize they don't get to maintain this type of control over your life.
I was in your situation. In my case, horribly controlling Hispanic parents who claimed their control was some sort of weird cultural right.
ButterflySuper2967 I kind of get it. I get very anxious and tend towards catastrophic thinking and sometimes a quick text from one of the kids settles me down. BUT my anxiety is mine to manage and I do not make demands for contact nor do I
do anything to burden them with my anxiety. The nice thing is, both kids will text me to say here safe if they are on a journey or something. But again, I'd never make them feel obligated
Busy_Ad_391 Oh geez! I'm lucky if my sons (in college) text me once every few days! lol I would never ask them to be in constant contact like that. How stressful. BUT, we all follow each other on Life360, so I can see if they're home. But even if I didn't, twice a day everyday is too much.
SigSauerPower320 NTA Quite honestly, the only way you're going to get out from under their thumb is to give them the ultimatum that you will not be texting them 2 times a day anymore. You're an adult and if they don't like
that, too bad. If the phone is in their name and they refuse this demand, you'll have to think about going no contact, getting your own phone, and blocking their numbers until they're capable of respecting your wishes.
