A person counts cash in their hands
A coworker asked me to borrow him $6000 for a car and I said that I can't give him this money. He stopped talking to me afterwards.
I say hi to him out of politeness but I simply don't interact with him the same as before. Am I an a h le for not helping him? The thing is, we're not even friends. 6k is a lot to give to a coworker. And to be fair, I need that money.
IOnly ReadTitles26 Never lend money that you are not willing to give away.
Training Low9079 NTA. Never loan money you can't afford to just give away.
Excellent_Problem753 In 23 years of working, I've never asked a coworker to borrow money. Now, I have been asked to lend money, but the amount has never exceeded enough to reasonably cover a single utility bill and could be paid back over the course of a single paycheck. I think anything outside those parameters would be odd.
sneezhousing You did the roght thing don't loan him or any coworkers. even 10. You will never see that money again if you do.
LocalGoat81 You definitely did the right thing. 6 dollars, maybe. But 6000, no way would I ever loan that much money to a coworker.

Unlucky_Kangaroo_137 Stopped talking to you? That's exactly what you want.
NotMelissa_Smith You dodged a bullet and be grateful he doesn't talk to you anymore. That's a win in my book. Never lend what you can't afford to lose.
Also there are places called "banks" and "car dealerships" that lend that type of money to people. Tell him to go to one.
VFTM What I wouldn't give for poor losers to not talk to me! And you got it for free.
AskThis7790 It's completely inappropriate for him to ask that of you. You're honestly better off keeping your distance from this guy.
throwRA-nonSeq When did the words "borrow" and "loan" start getting mixed up? I really hope this is an English Isn't My First Language thing.
BuffaloRedshark never give money to someone professional lenders aren't willing to. There's a reason these people can't get a traditional loan.
Independent-Moose113 NTA for not LOANING him $6K. LMAO! He's got some nerve. Jesus. Don't talk to him at all. Who gives a sh if this entitled swindler CO- WORKER isn't talking to you now? Go to HR and report him.
