After losing their loyal dog of 15 years, a cat that looks just like him shows up in this man's backyard, and even though he's "not a cat person", he knows it's fate and takes the kitty home

The CDS can find you even when you don't know that you need it. 

We think that a lot of people can relate to this experience - their cat adopting them right when they needed their help the most. I certainly can. Back when I was 17, going through one existential crisis after another, when nothing felt like it was going quite right - that's when my cat found me. Independence Day, dark outside, I hear an itty bitty meow behind me, little tiny paws pitter pattering as she followed me home, and nothing has been the same since. This tiny creature has brought so much joy into my life back then, and 11 years later, gently napping by my side as I write this, she is still bringing me just as much joy as before. Because sometimes, the CDS knows that you need a cat even when you don't know it, and that is exactly what happened in today's story. 

Except in this story, the CDS decided to take on two challenges. Not only did this man just lose his loyal and stunning dog of 15 years, he is also someone who has proclaimed to be someone who's "not a cat person". But that doesn't matter to the CDS. Anyone who knows anything about it knows this. When you are chosen, it happens to you for a reason. And the fact that this cat is identical in color to the sweet dog who crossed the rainbow bridge is a sign. And this man knew that. He didn't need his kid and his wife to convince him to adopt this kitty. He was going to do that all on his own, because when fate decides to give you a cat, you accept that kitty with open arms and an open heart.

    Never been a cat person myself, but I heard about this distribution system? My wife and kids have really taken to it so looks like we may be adopting a cat lol. Only issue is that we are leaving Saturday for a week. Any advice on what to do?

    My wife wants to take it to the vet to get checked but I'm also weary about spending money on it just for it to be gone when we come back. We do have someone that would be willing to shelter it while we're gone though.

    UPDATE: We took Milo (what my kids decided to name him) to the vet, no chip, but they said even though he appears to be in good condition it doesn't show signs of having a previous owner. I posted on a local Facebook group for lost pets, nothing yet.

    They estimated he's a year old. He got some vaccines, dewormer, now he's chilling. We are going on vacation Saturday for a week and while we're gone he's going to stay with my wife's friend who has experience sheltering cats.

  • This cat is definitely home. Look at how comfortable he has made himself. He knows that he is here to stay and that he's going to be here for a long, long time.

  • Of course he loves it. He was sent to you by the universe to help you deal with this grief. The CDS works in meowsterious ways… it may very well have been working with your dog to make this arrangement.

    SilotheGreat OP Thanks for the tips everyone! I've never seen such a playful cat and one that is so friendly to humans haha. So the plan is to take it to the vet to get checked.

    lickedmurderweapon I'd advise taking kitty to the vet for a chip scan at the very least. There's a chance there is a family looking for their furry friend. Not sure where you are based but here most vets won't charge for that.

    altagato Yes it's possible the cat just stayed out of the yard cause it was a dogs territory and now the dog is gone. Practically speaking... Otherwise, it's totally your dog coming to visit in cat form. Or a messenger sent to tell you something. He looks pred to be a cat to:D:D:D:D:②::: (y'all I'm only kidding, I know he's probably just sitting as a handsome/ good kitty to get attention or snacks)

    LadylnCrimson That's a sign. Your pet sent another in its place to help heal your grief. We have a cat Milo that passed we swear is reincarnated as our younger cat. They have similar personalities. I think cats and dogs are very intuitive and they can sense things from us.
