"Back in August 2022 I was participating in an international scavenger hunt called GISH. One of the tasks was to take "human kibble" (snacks) to a local vets office. I took snacks to our vets office that also houses a cat rescue whom we had adopted 3 cats from. During that trip we took a picture of the staff with the snacks and they decided to hold a couple of cats for the picture. One of those cats was a sweet little black and white kitten named Twinkie. I would occasionally ask if Twinkie had been adopted yet only to be told no. Fast forward to Halloween (my birthday) and I took our oldest cat in to see the vet. While waiting I spent time loving on Twinkie and I told my friend the vet tech that I just felt a connection with Twinkie and she said that she saw it too that normally he would follow her around but he only had eyes for me that day. I insisted that my husband go meet him and he fell in love too. Two days later I brought Twinkie home. He just turned 10mths old and loves to be held while he naps. I've had some health issues arise and Twinkie has stayed right by my side. He's so very loved."

"The day before me and my husband were to be going on a week long motorcycle adventure to Tennessee, Jinx walked into our lives. Tim said she was scrounging around the trash cans, possibly looking for something to eat. I was taking my other fur-baby to my brothers for him to babysit. Our big garage door was open since he was making sure that the motorcycle and everything was ready to go, and she made her way in and adopted him lol. I'm thinking with a few assorted duplexes down the street, she may have been left when someone moved. My mother-in-law graciously took her in the week we were gone (and would have kept her if it weren't for her dogs), and tried to find an owner, and I sweet talked hubby into keeping her when we got home"

    Cat

"My cat was abandoned by his previous owner (she was being harassed by another apartment tenant) and was left alone in the apartment for 8 months. We think he was fed here and there, but he also ate couch cushions and into a bag of flour. He was found by a case worker and needed a home. After we couldn't find a home, I just HAD to take him. He is a total lovebug and has had no complications from his trials. We renamed him Laszlo (from What we do in the Shadows)."

"My children and I were walking during 2020 and walked a mile away from home. We walked by an alley and my oldest heard a sad meow. We found a kitten in a weed bush who had been hit by a car. We took him to the vet who said we just need to wait and see. 3 years later, he yells and we jump and feed him. We think he likes to remind us how "hurt" he was."

    Cat

"In June of 2007, my husband and I were leaving a local watering hole and this poor female cat was starving. We threw her in the car and took her home. She ate and ate. She slept for two days. We named her Summer and we've had her for 16 years. She really is a wonderful loving companion and friend."

"We were 4 months out from losing our previous orange boy when we met Moe. I had finally gotten my husband to agree to a new cat and went in to Pet Smart to have him take a look at a tuxedo boy I had my eye on. Instead, our eye fell on the orange and white handsome dude in the crate below. We asked to meet him and he trotted right over, plopped my lap and started purring away. Fast forward 9 years and our Moe is the ruler of the roost."

    Cat - i

"We had just lost our cat 2 weeks prior and went to the shelter 'just to look'. I wanted a friend for our surviving cat but was worried about getting a kitten - Sookie is set in her ways and will hiss or slap at the drop of a hat. It was packed that day, it was a free clear the shelter event and every cat was claimed but I saw a cage of fluffy orange kittens that was being ignored. One kitten climbed over the other 4 to look at me and I decided then and there that he would be our lil guy and that's the story of Loki (pictured on his gotcha day of 9/24/18)"

"Usually I rescue animals, but not with these two. I have a 22 yr old son who has autism. A few days before Christmas he announced he was giving me a kitten for Christmas. I couldn't say no to his gift. Then when I went to see the litter, I laid eyes on these beautiful twins and got them both. They have brought us a lot of joy. Betty and Wilma."

"This is Buddah. He's from our local animal shelter. I picked up 5 kitties that day. 4 of them pushed away from me. Buddah curled up on my chest and went to sleep. I knew I'd been adopted. He'll be 12 yrs old in May."

"I adopted the local feral/farm cat called "Tommy". He has this little kennel in my front garden with a cosy bed inside. Friends and neighbours have donated blankets, food and bowls etc and he now living his best life. I make him a hot water bottle twice a day in the cold weather. He is now allowing me to stroke him and even follows me up the garden path on occasions."

    Cat

"I adopted Zeke (gray on the left), but Jade (right) adopted me. She was the feistiest kitten in her litter, and we were worried she'd be too much of a spit-fire for anyone to want her. I made it my mission then to tame her so she could be adoptable, but once I was done, she didn't want anyone else. She declared I now belonged to her and she would go home with no one else. That was 12 years ago now"

"I went to the shelter and asked for the kitty who needed a home the most. Meet Major Tom, an 8-10 year old, toothless, polydactyl male. He is an absolute love bug that only wants to be in my arms or on my lap"

"We lived in the country and already had 2 cats when this tabby cat would sit up in the barn loft and watch us when we were outside. I would climb up to feed her and take her water. After gaining my trust I brought her down to meet the family. She did not get along with my other cats so I decided to take her to the humane society. A couple days later my husband made the remark that he wished I hadn't got rid of her cause he "really liked that cat", so I went back and adopted her. That was 16 years ago. Her name is Tigger."
