Could we really ask for anything more?

We have to hand it to the animal kingdom for many reasons, and not just because they are part of what keeps our ecosystem running. From an internet perspective, they have gifted the world with the blessing that is memes as we know and love them, in particular because of the innovation that was LOLcats. 

Purely because so many people like cute animals and enjoy sharing a joke now and then, memes exploded into the phenomenon that we are so familiar with today. We can apply them to all kinds of topics, no matter what our interests or sense of humor. Of course, animals are still some of the most popular muses, and that will probably never change. They just work too well when it comes to fitting into various formats, or simply giving us standalone entertainment.

At the same time, it is nice that the land of memes is diversified in such a way that we do not really know what is coming next. There are always the things that people like to talk about the most that will come back time and again, but there is also a chance that we will stumble upon some brand new sentence, concept, or character to give us the novelty that we crave. No matter what, a simple scroll through some of the internet's stupidest images is guaranteed to be a nice way to spend a couple of minutes. We have the gift of distraction at our fingertips, and it is so easy to use wisely. You just have to keep on looking for the next meme.
