The basics to survive another heatwave are: stay inside, drink something cold, find a fan, repeat. The outside world will still be there later. Preferably when the temperature drops. In the meantime, these heatwave memes are for everyone spending summer near an AC vent. 

The weather app says 98 degrees, and the "feels like" number sitting below it tells a different story. One look outside is enough to cancel whatever plans you had. The sun looks angry, the burning sidewalk looks dangerous, and you are afraid of getting in your car because it has been baking in a parking spot for hours now. Unless somebody is handing out free ice cream, I'm staying inside with the AC. 

The AC has been running for so long that it deserves a vacation once summer ends. Nobody is touching the thermostat either. We have rules now, and the AC is set to 72. No matter how hot the weather is outside, there is always someone who arrives in an air-conditioned room and says, "It's freezing in here." Freezing? Please grab a sweater. Some of us just reached the point where we can sit on the couch without sweating, and we're not giving that up. 

Leaving the house requires more thought than it should. You wait until later because it will cool down after sunset. But then you check again at 9 p.m. and the temperature has barely moved. Walking to get some groceries feels like poor decision-making. By the time you're back inside, you're standing directly in front of the AC like you just crossed a desert. 

Also, dinner gets simpler. Nobody wants to turn on an oven when the house already feels preheated. Instead, a cheese sandwich can be dinner, or cereal can be dinner too. Looking inside the refrigerator for a little longer than necessary also feels pretty good. In fact, being close to anything cold feels like heaven.
