Rhinoceros are totally misunderstood creatures that are constantly coming in and out of the endangered species list. Currently, there are three different species of rhinos on the critically endangered list and those are the black, Javan, and Sumatran rhinos. So, to see a rhino flourishing, in our out of their natural habitat, is quite the amazing spectacle.
Joona, a baby rhino who was born at the Denver Zoo on February 2, 2020, just had her second birthday. The happy (and heavy—weighing well over 1800 lbs) has gone viral many times on TikTok for her bouncy childish persona that is just so friggin' adorable. Her most recent reason for stardom on the app, however, is her learning how to play spar with her (even heavier with an average weight of 4,000 lbs) mom. As she runs back and forth with her tiny little hard head onto her mom's, she looks so happy. The mom doesn't budge at all from the baby's blow, but you can spot a smile that only a proud mama knows.
Commenters can't stop relishing in the mom's expression. Though the huge creature could easily kill a human and even her tiny offspring if she wanted to, she looks at her child with the most gentle and kind eyes. As if she's saying, “good job baby” and encouraging her with every tiny spar.
The TikToker posting the amazing viral videos of this trending rhino is an employee at the Denver Zoo. She also post videos of many other animals in her care at the zoo. Though most of her viewers melt from cuteness overload and absolutely love her videos, she also gets a lot of hateful anti-zoo comments, which makes her hesitant to post. But with 1.5 million views to this video already, her followers beg her to stay on.
