HOA tries to fine homeowner $50 for their bright red-painted front door, except the homeowner’s property isn’t part of the HOA, and busybody neighbor issuing the “fine” isn’t a member of the HOA board: 'This is not the first time'

A bright red front door stands out against the blue paint of the house.
juju516 Why not find obnoxious colored wrapping paper (like highlighter orange or some other color that'llpiss him off) and wrap your front door? It's temporary and you can keep changing it lol
Bucephalus970 I would send no letter. I would paint my door hot pink

Ragnarsworld My house was built before the HOA charter in my subdivision went into effect. Me and one other guy down the street. So I'm not part of their little empire. They've only bothered me once and that was years ago when I put up a small shed in the back yard. I was nice about it, its built with the proper

setback and everything. But they sent me a letter whining about the shingles not matching the house. I sent a letter back telling them I wasn't in their HOA and to go pound sand. Never heard from them again. My next door neighbor, whose small shed was not only the wrong color but not at the right setback, got no end of sh from them. F HOAs.

JS3316 To whom it may concern, As this is now your second attempt to push your policy outside of your boundary I will be seeking legal advice to take against the board. Also if this harassment and overreach continues I will without question paint my entire home to match my door in color. Thank you and please by all means have the day you deserve.

shawnwarnerwrites P This man is not actually on the HOA board. They were just as confused about it as I was the first time around. He's just a busybody with too much time on his hands.

RhythmTimeDivision Send him a toy pearl necklace, encourage him to clutch them when he suffers anxiety from having no control over inconsequential crip in his neighborhood. My father built homes before retirement. The default front door color was red - unless requested otherwise. IYKYK. He'd either laugh at this guy - or chase him down the street with a 2x4.

Spicy Tuna089 Paint your door during a time you're likely to be seen by this guy, except paint over it with the exact same color.

TK-24601 Give him a paint swatch of your door's color and suggest its a good color for his door.

fuzzy_engineering18! I would get a letter from a proper lawyer. Something along the lines of, "my property is not part of your HOA and this is the X time you have tried to fine me. If you contact me again I will sue the HOA for harassment."
