A healthy and loving relationship in 2026?

Something has changed in the last few years, maybe it was in the last decade, and I'm not sure what to attribute this change to. But nowadays, seeing a loving and healthy relationship with two young adults or teens is not especially common. We can blame a bunch of things for it. The ages of the people involved, for example, are too young to understand that their attitudes aren't okay and that it's important to leave jealousy out of the equation by having deep and meaningful conversations. Maybe it's the rise of social media. This seems to be the best thing to blame, but, in all seriousness, I do think that all the content that is being fed to teenagers about being jealous or looking into their partner's phone is causing factual damage to their brains. Seeing all that toxicity being portrayed as normal not only on social media but even in movies like After or My Fault cannot be healthy at all for young audiences. This kind of portrayal of relationships justifies behaviors that are not good at all, and the fact that nobody gives it a second thought is extremely concerning.

So maybe it's in our hands to start romanticizing the healthy side of love, the loving relationships that are mature and held by a strong foundation in communication. It's not normal or okay to check your partner's phone. They deserve privacy. You have to trust, and if you don't, then something is extremely wrong in the relationship. If you are doubting whether your partner is cheating, then you need to revise your whole relationship because you do not, in fact, have a strong enough foundation to be together. A lot more communication is needed, and some more attention to each other's mental health. So, stay loving, stay healthy, and enjoy a couple of cute couple memes so you can feel like the couple goals you two are. And please, do not enter that whole new trend of being toxic as a form of deeper love. That's just nonsense.
