But then my one and only answer to this always circles back to, "It doesn't matter!"

And yes, I stand by it, wholeheartedly. There are so many steps to take and consider before doing the unthinkable, which is leaving a cat to fend for themselves, to abandon them. Even if a person can't take care of a cat for some reason, they can ask friends and family if they can adopt them. If that doesn't work, they can try to look for someone else to take them, post a cat for adoption online. If that doesn't bear fruit, you can turn to shelters and see if they can take your cat. There are so many things a person can do, but no, some cats are downright abandoned, just like this litter of black kittens.
