‘He took up residence in our barn’: Farmer welcomes grey kitten into their family after the cat showed up at their barn and made himself at home

If your farm doesn't have a little barn cat strolling around, is it really a farm worth keeping?

Some living situations are better than others, but they are also very personal. Some people dream of living in a fancy penthouse in a big city like New York, while others just want a quiet house with big fields and only green on the horizon. However, whether you are more drawn to the first option or the second, there is one thing every dream household needs, no matter if it's in a skyscraper or on a farm in the middle of nowhere.

Cats. Having cats in your home will make any living arrangement so much better. Think about how great it would be to wake up in your luxurious apartment and have a tiny little cat walk beside you as you head to the kitchen for your cup of coffee. Imagine how lovely your farm life would be if you added a feisty feline into the mix of animals you love and take care of. It is the purrfect addition that cannot go wrong.

The farmers in the story below would surely agree, as they recently welcomed a beautiful gray cat into their farm, and they already talk about the improvements the little guy has made to their home…

  • Didn't know we needed a barn cat

    We noticed this little guy hanging around our farm recently. He took up residence in our barn and seems to have made himself quite at home.

  • As unexpected as this new addition might be, everyone is happy about it. The kitten now has a place to call home, somewhere to get food and shelter, while also bossing the people around to make sure the farm is up and running. 

    The owners of the farm, on the other hand, get a new friend who is not only a sweet companion but is actually a great farm worker who takes care of the farm's rodent population. It's a match made in heaven, for sure.

    Hopefully, this lovely story might inspire someone out there to add a cat to the layout of their dream home, wherever it may be. Every home, every apartment, every farm could definitely benefit from the presence of a sweet, furry friend.

  • Longjumping-Ring-879 Thank you for accepting him. I hate it when ppl dump cats off at farms and assume the owner will accept them as "barn cats". Many of those cats never make it. You are a saint for accepting this beautiful creature into your life. I am sure you will all be blessed to have each other.

  • Ellio_kontos OP It's very frustrating. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened. We found a few kittens last summer but they we're so little and easy to round up. We took them right away to get care. and they were adopted to loving homes.

  • Barn Bert was clearly not like the kittens. Not sure how long he's even been around for but we noticed him at the start of August. He did not like us at all at first which indicates to us that he's not been around humans that much. He's coming around though.
