Of course, sometimes all those practical arguments go right out the window once the pet has been around for a few days. It’s hard to keep insisting that a kitten has to go when he’s already cuddling up to you, following you around the house, and making himself comfortable. Sometimes, the adorableness wins out, and the “temporary” pet simply never leaves.

Good luck telling the Cat Distribution System no once it has decided you’re next on the delivery route. You can insist you’re not looking for another pet, swear you’re only helping for a few days, and even have a new home lined up. The CDS does not care about your plans. Sometimes a kitten shows up, gets comfortable, and leaves you to figure out the rest.

The next best thing to being a cat mom is getting to be the cat auntie. You still get all of the snuggles, love, and adorable kitten updates without being the one responsible for every vet appointment and 3 AM zoomie session. Since this little guy is going to her friend, hopefully she’ll still get to watch him grow up and sneak in plenty of visits along the way.
