People were staring down from up the dock, and they lowered a bucket tied to a rope so the cat could climb inside and they could pull it back up. At first, it looked like it was working: the cat jumped in, and they were pulling the bucket up. But physics got in the way, and since the kitty was not well placed inside, he fell back down into the water.

They tried to lower the bucket down again, but by that point, kitty did no longer trust the safety of that thing and wasn't willing to go back inside. That's when a young man decided to climb all the way down to the place where the cat was trying to hold on, so he could help it out and rescue it manually.

Finally, after grabbing the cat and helping him swim the remaining distance to the shore, the cat and the human got there safely. Kitty was placed on the ground, and he was free to climb the rocks at the beach and run wild along the dry land. We are so happy that these people were kind enough to help the poor kitty in distress. Even though they can swim on instinct, I'm more than sure that it was less than a fun moment for him, and it must have been a relief to get to the shore at last.
