'He's twice the size of my other Sphynx cats': Couple adopts an 11-year-old giant Peterbald cat after his owners can no longer care for him, and he fills their house with hilarious chaos

Babe, wake up, new cat just dropped. 

Here, at ICHC, we pride ourselves on being cat expurrts. All of us writers have been here for years at this point. There is not a single piece of internet cat news that we have missed. The new cat breed that was discovered? We were on that. There is not a single cat meme that has evaded us. Heck, some of our own handmade memes have gotten attention online. Every cat vet emergency is something that we've seen before. Except when it comes to our cats, who make us panic when they do anything slightly off. 

We know cats. Exept that apparently, we don't know them well enough. Somehow, after years of working in the cat field, today, we were caught off guard. We thought we had seen all the unique and rare cats that existed already. The Maine Coons, the Cornish Rex, the common orange… because oranges are all special in their own ways. But we were wrong. And we're so happy about that. A new cat discovered is always something to celebrate. And if that cat is a hilarious, chaotic menace… then all the better. 

At 11 years of age, this cat's owners, unfortunately, could no longer give him the attention that he needed, so they started looking for other options. Of course, rehoming a cat is always difficult, but they managed to find the purrfect home for him. It's going to take him a while to get used to all the new things, but he knows he's safe and that he is loved. And that's what matters. Also, he is uniquely adorable. Scroll.     He is the grumpiest, funniest cat I've ever seen. He's twice the size of my other Sphynx cats, they are terrified of him and he seems to find it funny.

  • With confidence, I can say that after literally years of writing for ICanHasCheezburger, I have never in my life seen a cat like this. I thought I was an expert. I thought I knew cats. I have not been stumped about a cat breed in years. But this threw me off. I looked at this cat, and I had no idea what I was looking at. A sphynx, sure, but not quite right. A little bigger, a little hairier. Now… I'm obsessed. Watch me make a whole list of pictures of them in a couple of days, I will not be able to stop myself.

    d athbydexter OP He's a little fat too but he's very playful and has lost a bit of weight since he moved in! He will absolutely try and get into your mouth if he thinks you ate something interesting

    d athbydexter OP They won't approach him yet, they've been living together for a month. I introduced them slowly but it's still challenging although much better over time!

  • Listen, if a copycat of mine suddenly appeared in my house, I, too, would be spooked. If that copycat was twice my size… yeah, it's going to take some time for these kitties to get used to him. But I have no doubt that they will. He looks like he is going to rule that house with an iron paw. And sooner or later, the little ones will understand that this conniving senior has things to teach them. They will all be causing chaos together before you know it, and the only thing that we, he at ICHC, ask is that, once it happens, please update all of us. We are so invested in him.

    athbydexter OP He sadly needed more attention than his previous family could give him because of circumstances. A mutual friend knew we loved clingy n ked cats and that was it! Really a strike of luck for everyone involved
