It's fall, right? So we are all in our baking era that tends to come every single year right when October starts. Like many of you, I want to bake my own pie. Not for Thanksgiving; I wouldn't want to do that to my own family, but for myself, to relax and unwind. I found a cookbook at my grandma's house that seems easy and is from a long time ago. Recipes used to be easier and less time-consuming, so I felt motivated and ready to make a pumpkin pie. I went grocery shopping, and it took me a while to find all the ingredients since I barely knew where to go in the baking aisle, but I got everything I needed. As soon as I got home, I started. I was feeling pumped, ready, and excited. First things first: pie crust. Flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda… easy peasy. Made myself some dough!
-
I spread it all over the pie pan and put it in the oven for a bit. Then… the filling part started. I was nervous; I don't know why! It's just a pie! But I had a feeling… Anyway, I mixed everything as the cookbook said, but for some reason the mixture was very watery. And since I had no video reference, I didn't know what I was doing! I kept going and finished the recipe. I poured the mixture on the pie crust and baked it. It took more time than expected, but in the end, I had some pie! It wasn't the most delicious pumpkin pie ever, but it was edible! And that's some progress! I guess this time it wasn't a cooking fail, and I felt happy that, for once, I didn't feel like I fit into bad-food and cooking-fail memes. So, if you really want to try baking something, grab a cookbook and do it!
