I start going crazy just by thinking about all the things I have to think about: the venue, the guests, the menu, the decorations, the color palette, the seating chart, the flowers, the dress, the DJ… The list seems endless…
I know what you're going to say: ‘But that’s what wedding planners are for!' And yes, you're right, but you still need ideas to pass on to your wedding planner so they can take over, and the issue is I don't have many. Besides, I liked the possibility of planning the whole wedding on my own, to do it exactly as I want it, but let's face it, I'm not a very energetic person. I know myself, and I know I'm going to be exhausted in two weeks. So, if you have any recommendations for good wedding planners, please feel free to let me know!

Now, I keep seeing these memes about the budget, and I'm terrified. I have some savings and all, but I sure wasn't planning on spending everything on the party. Especially because I want something simple, familiar, and tasteful. The pond with the swans might be a little too much. And the ice sculptures don't last. So I decided to skip them.
I'm pretty sure I'll be going with seasonal flowers and decorations will be handmade, because, as the tinker fairy that I am, I like to do things myself. Besides, I have complicated taste, and I can hardly ever find already-made stuff that I actually like, so at this point I'm accepting my fate.
The issue that keeps bothering me is: at what point did weddings become such a massive event, in which we spend all of our life's savings for a single occasion that doesn't last longer than 8 hours? Is all that paraphernalia really necessary? Isn't it enough to have a nice, heartfelt ceremony with the people you love, some good food, and a few fun dance moves for the dance floor? We're supposed to be celebrating the everlasting love between two people who choose to spend the rest of their lives together; why is it necessary to turn it into such a spectacle? Yes, love is beautiful, and it deserves to be celebrated; I'm with you on that one. But it is also a very unique and private sentiment. Couples are different, and they experience love in all shapes and forms; why should all weddings be a replica of the other when the people celebrating them are so different? These are the questions that keep haunting me at night, and the reason why I'm definitely considering eloping. I swear to you, one of these days you're going to randomly find me at the supermarket and I'll be wearing a wedding band around my finger without you ever finding out where it came from.
