A Floptastic Collection Of Doggos With Giant Ears And Tiny Attention Spans

Some dogs have ears bigger than their heads, yet somehow they can't hear a single thing their humans say. Unless there's food involved. Then their hearing works just fine!

Every dog pawrent knows the struggle of calling their pup's name approximately twenty times before getting any acknowledgment. You could be standing right beside them, waving your arms and practically begging for their attention, and they'll continue staring at a squirrel. But whisper the word "treat" from another room, and suddenly they're listening!

We're convinced dogs understand a lot more than they let on. They know exactly what "walk" means, recognize the sound of their food bowls, and can hear a cheese wrapper opening from the other side of the house. Yet the moment you ask them to stop barking at the mailman, they act like they've never heard a human voice before.

The bigger the ears, the more suspicious we become. How can a dog have two enormous flappers hanging off its head and still ignore the person responsible for feeding it? Some of these pups look like they could hear a biscuit hit the floor three streets away, but "come here" is apparently beyond their capabilities.

Perhaps they've simply decided that listening is optional. After all, what's the worst that could happen? Their human calls them inside, they ignore the request, and five minutes later that same human comes outside with a treat. Sounds like a pretty successful negotiation from the dog's perspective!

Then there's the selective hearing that happens when it's time for a bath. Mention the word "bathroom," and your pup disappears beneath the bed. Ask them to come out, and suddenly they're fast asleep. It's amazing how quickly a dog can lose its hearing when shampoo enters the conversation.

We also love how they pretend not to notice when they're doing something naughty. They'll be halfway through stealing a sandwich off the counter, hear you say their name, and keep going. Maybe if they don't make eye contact, the rules don't apply!

The real talent is pretending they haven't heard you while their ears are actively moving toward your voice. Those little traitors give the whole game away! We can see you listening, buddy. You're not fooling anyone.

Of course, the second you stop calling and sit down to eat something, your dog suddenly remembers you exist. Now they're beside you, ears perked up, waiting patiently for a bite.

So enjoy these big-eared pups who've mastered the fine art of hearing everything and obeying absolutely nothing.

Having enormous ears doesn't guarantee good listening skills. These doggos are walking around with enough ear to outfit three other pups, yet getting them to follow a simple instruction is like negotiating with a toddler who's discovered the word "no." We're starting to think those ears are just there to make them look extra innocent when they misbehave. Unfortunately, it's working. Who's going to scold a face with two floppy pancakes hanging off it?

Having huge ears also comes with its own challenges. They dip in your water bowl, blow in the breeze, and smack you in the face when you're running. Forget about keeping a low profile. These ears enter the room five minutes before these doggos do. There's no sneaking around when your ears stick up five feet above your head.

We have a serious weakness for big-eared doggos. Especially the little ones who look like they're still waiting for the rest of their bodies to catch up with their ears. It's even cuter when they get excited and those ears start bouncing all over the place. We'd never get anything done with one of these pups around. We'd be too busy playing with their ears and telling them how handsome they are!
