How can we love someone so much before we even know them?

This human planning her "dream puppy" adoption and getting a cozy carrier all set up has made me think about how loved this puppy was even before getting adopted. Isn't that so sweet? Someone loved her even before she knew about it. Her human prepared a cozy bag for the puppy's first moments on the ride home, and not only that, but she also had toys waiting for her at home. It is clear how excited she is to bring her puppy into her life. All the anticipation and the excitement to take care of a new life make puppy adoption a real celebration, as it should always be. Every puppy deserves to be loved like this.

This event inevitably made me think of some friends of mine who recently became parents. I noticed that their baby, Simon, has made me feel something similar. They're the first close friends around my age to have a baby, so it's been a big moment for our group. We've shared so many things as friends (including playing together in the same band) that now getting to see them in this new part of their lives as parents makes me feel touched. What surprised me was how much we all already loved their baby before we even met him. People were getting together because of him, making room for him, buying things for him, wanting to know how everything was going when he wasn't even here yet.

Just like this human didn't know anything about her dream puppy's personality or what she would enjoy, she already wanted good things for her. She just wanted her puppy, no matter what the puppy would do in return. In the same way, we all were excited about Simon in my group of friends. I want him to be happy, comfortable, loved. I want to meet him and find out who he is going to become. We haven't met him yet, since he was born two weeks ago and can't see people. But you can take your time, Simon. We're already happy you're here. And for now, that is enough.

I bet her human wants to find out what makes her puppy have fun and pays attention to the things she starts to like. That's what I see in the care going into this puppy's arrival. Her human still has so much to discover about her. Which toy will she choose? Where will she like to sleep? What funny habit will everyone end up talking about? I love that the affection is already there while all those little details are still ahead. I'm already interested in hearing about her favorite toy.
